Best bed for heavy people?

Has anyone bought a bed recently and are you 14 stone plus? I don't want a divan, I'd like a frame bed preferably with a metal base. Can you recommend yours? Is it comfortable and up to some action Grin

I don't think most wood slat beds are up to the challenge btw

whats your budget cittigirl?

I'd prefer no more than £3/400 for the frame. Preferably much less.

try factory beds direct - they have certain beds that are suitable for heavy people - however they are not cheap. You definitely get what you pay for though....

PIL is about 20 stone and has a solid pine bed with wooden slats, it's always stood up to the strain.

Following with interest- would also like to know what mattresses are best for heavier people? X

umm, i weigh much more than that, and share with DH who weighs slightly less than you.

We have a pine bed from John Lewis

I weigh a few stone more than that, and we had a cheap(ish) pine bed for years (Argos I believe), stood up to me and DP just fine. We have a sleigh bed now, again with wooden slats, and a reasonably firm mattress, no problems so far.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll give a slatted base a try. I had an unfortunate accident in ikea recently. I sat on one of their beds, it was one of the cheaper ones and the slats came out so i fell down. They weren't broken, I just think it wasn't put together well but you can imagine my embarrassment and reluctance BlushGrin
