Deluxe perfectly taupe.

And this is what other pictures of it looked like and I loved it.

Yet it's so bloomin dark on my walls....gutted. Not the look I was going far at all...

Can you get DH to buy some tester pots rather than full cans?

I have just walnut! it's a lovely colour but more of a grey than a brown. Seen here next to my white door, painted onto white emulsion, no primer and my room is quite dark this morning.

Always get a sample to try out on your wall, the light you have can make paint look wildly different on your walls than what the card is.

Valspar have a nifty area where you can place the cards in 3 different types of light to see how they will turn out.

This is amazing to me as every grey I bought turned lilac on my walls.

Thanks Bif, at least its lighter than the perfectly taupe!

Looks lovely actually. All the furniture in the room, doors, everything else is white so it will probably all look fine when the room is 'dressed'

Got the whole house to do and heads gone already!

Yes, I think tester pots really should be the way forward. I tend to be a bit impulsive and cant wait. Lesson learned!

I've got perfectly taupe right throughout the house. I often get compliments on it. I the dark downstairs areas of the house it's quite dark and moody, but in the lighter upstairs I can barely see it!

But imho it looks just like the swatch...

We had the same panic when we used perfect taupe, it looked exactly the same as your photo.
However, after a few days it had dried throughly and lightened up massively and it now looks just like the swatch and example picture.

Just remembered I had perfectly taupe a few years ago and it looked straight up purple Hmm

It is purply, isn't it, ginger? It's particularly so at night with the lamps on.

I think the OP should give it a chance..

Welllllllll.....it's growing on me. So much so that I've left the bottom perfectly taupe and painted the top just walnut. They really complement each other and look lovely with the White of the dado rail and the furniture.

I'll post a pic tomorrow in the natural light. I'm quite pleased with it :)

Natural lighting (and lack of ) within a room plays a huge significance on how the human eye interprets colour. Always do swatches first!!

Here's a shot of the finished colour, I'm very pleased with how it's turned out. Depending on the light it looks grey, lilac, or beige. It's really lovely! Panic over!
