Storage ideas pls for narrow hall (dog related items)

We currently have dog harness, collars, selection of leads, poo bag holders, dog coat, towels (for wiping paws) etc etc hung up on hooks in our very narrrow hall.

Frankly, it looks a mess!

Can't really relocate as that is where it is all needed.

Does anyone have any more stylish solutions pls?

[House is old, tall, thin, in mainland Europe so French style shabby chic without the chic]

Any sort of hall bench with storage or cupboard will be in people's path when they enter ifyswim.

I am stumped!

I would like to know too - although I have a five year old not a dog Smile

Shelf above the hooks with some storage cubes on it, or a low shelf below the coats(?) on the hooks with storage cubes below it?

We have a shelf above our coat hooks with cycle helmets, gloves, brollies, etc on it.

I have a small porch in which I keep my dogs accoutrements and frankly they looked a mess so we put up 4 very stylish hook type things ( modern knob type) in a kind of suare formation ( 2 high / 2 lower) and then got 4 of the PE type bags ( cheap on eBay) and on 1 hook I have his everyday harness and on the other 3 I hang a bag on each which contain coats / dog drying bag / spare leads/ harness. It all looks very tidy ( I think) and It takes up very little space .

Suare - square

Thank you wowfudge and floralnomad

(fantastic nn's all of you!)

wow Yes could go for this sort of thing here and put the really unsightly stuff (harness) in basket.

Floralnomad drawstring bag idea is really good - and I do sew - don't why I didn't think of that. That way, when I measure it out, if sticking out shelf too intrusive in to space, can revert to hooks and contain mess in bags.

Last night a friend came up with the idea of buying a second hand 'brown wood' cupboard, slicing it in half along its depth (to make it very shallow) and removing back and paint antique white. Then put pegs on the wall inside ifyswim. So you just open door to find harnesses etc hanging up behind.

Also found this link here when I was browsing, which I think looks stylish but doesn't solve fundamental issue of having closed not open storage.

Thanks eveyrone! You've got me thinking ... .

You could use ikea shoe storage. It's very narrow.

trixymalixy · 11/10/2015 14:26

the white version of this?

Thanks Trixy, that's a good idea and we do have bits of Ikea furniture here and there but trying to go for an older style look in this instance.

Funnily enough my dd has the Hemnes bedroom set. It might work!
