Just had some raw MDF shelves put up. Would like to paint them chalky white. I've heard Annie Sloan paint will just sink into it.

Is there a better paint out there?

Well firstly you'll need a primer .... Wood primer. Annie Sloan is just an 'OK' paint. Rustoleum furniture paint ( chalky finish) is better quality and is much more durable.

Oh brilliant. Thank you.

no primer seeded with A S chalk paint. no sanding either . that's its unique selling point.

BUT you do need to seal it with AS wax afterwards.
I've painted loads of stuff with it. it gives a certain type of finish you either like or you don't.

don't believe the videos saying you only need one coat. you need to thin the paint slightly ( with water ) and I usually do 3 coats. it dries fast.

Yes it claims no prep needed. That's why I deal with a shocking amount of customers needing to restart their project because they skipped sanding/primer. It's a unique selling point alright! Boosts the sales of other furniture paints...
