Has anyone painted the walls in their bedroom a really dark colour ?

I love dark bedrooms and find them
Very cosy but I'm worried if I do it myself it will look a bit miserable .

If anyone has any colour ideas that would be great

I have one wall aubergine with matching bedding, curtains and rug, dark wood floor too, it's enough dark for me, well maybe another wall would have been ok, the window is very big and lets lots of light in. What about burgundy.

Yes I think that would be nice actually . It's just magnolia at the minute and I hate it .

My (teen) ds chose dark bluey-greens.
I don't like it myself. He did when it was first done but after about a year completely covered the walls in posters - don't know how much of that was a teen 'phase' and how much was because he didn't like how oppressive the dark colour was though Grin

Grinthat's what I'm afraid of . Im no good at interior design so could end up with some kind of dungeon . I guess it's only paint though and can be painted over if it's disgusting

Fingerprints (especially oily pizza stained ones) are much more obvious on a dark painted wall. Not that we eat pizza in the bedroom but we have a lovely dark room downstairs.

I've got a large bedroom with a double height ceiling at one end. The walls are f&b plummet, the curtains are a grey embossed silk - with lots of fabric and movemment. The chandelier is chrome. The headboard white french style the carpet is neutral. Sounds awful when you write it down but it works. There are also 2 large windows.

I painted my bedroom slate grey (3 walls), and postbox red (1 wall) I have a slightly lighter grey carpet. My room is average size, double bed and wardrobe with just enough room to walk round the edges. It is made lighter by all of my furniture being white to brighten it up and 2 floor length mirrors to reflect the light.
It's just right, dark enough for summer mornings when the sun rises early, but you don't need a light on during the day when the blinds are open.

I have dark plum feature wall then pearl on three other walls. The carpet is dark brown and I have solid wood dark furniture. I love it!

My bedroom is all a dark rich green, from Fired Earth National Trust. I love it!!! It is a large room with windows on two sides, and I have a large bed with white linen so the room never seems dark. And so grown up and sophisticated! I feel like I've finally made it everytime I go into my bedroom!

Yes oxcat that's what I want , to feel grown up Grin. I hate hating my bedroom . It's time I did something about it
