Is it posible to have rainbow carpeted staircase?

We need a new stair carpet (to replace the boring beige one that came with our house). I have a dream of a rainbow stairway with each step being a different colour. I've looked on the web & can only find painted rainbow stairs - would it be possible to have a rainbow made out of different pieces of different coloured carpet or am I just dreaming?

I guess... You'd probably have to have those metal strips along each inner indent of step (if you understand what I mean!) to hold each piece securely as there'd be more chance of each piece lifting up....

You can stick carpet so if you only wanted partially fit, so a piece of wood either size you'd just need some off cuts and glue them to each stair.
Our carpet shop would give you these free as they would be wastage to them.

Yes, absolutely possible. The shop I'm buying my carpets form showed me a picture of a stairway they did just like the one you have described. They used the Modena range from Vorwerk which has lots of strong rainbow colours. The problem, I believe, was in the wastage and buyung only small amounts of each colour - but entirely doable.

Oh good - I'm glad it's possible as I'd really like a rainbow stairs. Will go & make some serious enquiries at our local dealers now - just didn't want to look a total idiot. Will post a picture here if I ever get it sorted.

Sounds great. My first thought was you meant actual striped carpet, I have seen striped but not rainbow, I'm sure they do it though, although I like your idea of having the different coloured steps, might be cheaper, off cuts and all.

I have painted rainbow stairs and they make me smile everyday. Go for it.

It would be easy. They do stairs in sections anyway. Lots of off cuts in bright colours and you would never know they wasn't joined as the join would be in the right angle inner corner of each step

I once used carpet samples that are stair size but glue is a bugger to remove- i had to scrape it off when i decided to do a painted satir- which i love.
