Bit eurgh, but how do I clean the wall next to the loo (it's a bit, erm, yellow)

Downstairs loo
I have DH and DS
The wall was painted white but I want to repaint and I recall that human wee is fatty so I need a detergent to remove it before I paint.

So I've tried a scrub and Stardrops but nothing doing.
There's not a lot of space to get to it.

So, any ideas?

Try sugar soap - I use it to get grease off kitchen cupboards. It's also perfect for prepping an area that needs to be re-painted.

I was going to ask in B&Q (or somewhere) what takes ciggie smoke off walls (I cannot ask IRL about pee ) and try that but YY, sugarsoap should do it.

Spray on stainblock and then repaint. Works in my kitchen where the kids have splashed grease marks on the walls.

Also - train your family to close the lid of the loo before flushing. I did this and it's made a big difference to the wall next to the loo.

Ideally the menfolk would also sit down to wee but that seems to be an insult to their masculinity in my household.

Stain block before painting is a really good idea. The stuff in a spray can has a tendency to be very messy and as you've said it's an awkward area, I'd go for one in a tin instead. It's very thick and I found it almost impossible to apply with a brush. However, I recently had success using a small gloss paint roller. Much, much easier and went on beautifully.
