Cleaning hessian/silk wallpaper!!!Advice needed please

My parents have hessian/silk wallpaper in the living room and there has been a family rebellion at my suggestion that it be replaced. Apparently it cost the earth 4 decades ago. Yet it is dingy and stained in places. Does anyone know how to clean it?

Well they've probably had their money's worth by now. If there is it's probably a restoration expert job and costs more than buying new.

no harm in trying a small corner behind the furniture with dry soda powder and a soft cloth or sponge and see if it makes a diff.
