Shutters or Venetian blinds? And who from?

Appreciate any advice on this. It's for our front rooms in place of nets. We're thinking white wood. But should we get tape real wood or mdf? Thanks!

I have shutters - half way up only. I love them - my mum has Venetian blind and is now thinking of changing them for shutters. I think they look classy. Mine are white MDF - the installation guy said there was no point or benefit in getting real wood - MDF is perfect for them as it isn't too heavy.
