A sofa bed that works as an every day sofa and an occasional bed

Can anyone recommend a sofa that is properly comfy as an everyday sofa and reasonably comfy as an occasional bed? My experience of sofa beds as they can often be too hard or lumpy as a sofa. We have no spare room so this would need to be our everyday sofa an comfy therefore. Only occasional use as a bed so this isn't as important but I would like our guests to have an ok nights sleep, preferably looking for something for under £750. Thanks.

I have a sofa bed from sofa work shop. It is my only sofa. I sit on it daily. And have for the last 16 years. It is definitely time to get a new one... Not actually that helpful as perhaps sofa work shop may have changed their quality in that time but I would certainly recommend.

M&S. Sat on it now. Super comfy! And last time I slept on it it was ok. Quality mattress for a sofa bed! And I think I bought it when my soon to be 7 year old was born.
I'll look and see if they still do it.

We have an m&s one. It is great as a sofa, pretty good as a sofa bed for one and acceptable as a sofa bed for two!

Marks and Spencers, pricey but good, I've got one for when my sister stays as she has a very bad back condition. It's a fold out one on a mechanism underneath the seat cushions and it's brilliant. I got it in the January sale for about £440 otherwise it would have been about £900. It's the comfiest sofa in the house too, and the rest are from John Lewis. Obviously it's not proper bed quality, but it's the best I've slept on (I tried it to make sure, and I've slept on a lot!). You get to chose different seat covering materials so I went for the cheapest non-horrible one, a kind of textured fawn.

No ours is abbey large. Big enough for 3 to sit and 2 to sleep

We have a lovely ikea one my mum bought it for our wedding present. It's brilliant as a bed and occasional sofa, it's in our second living room. I love that we can change the fabric cover on it. I would happily replace it with another ikea sofa if we ever needed to.

Our 'main' sofa is a sofa-bed. It's very comfy as a sofa and as a bed. It's from Next. We have a matching non-bed sofa as well.

Foxy can I ask daft question? If it's Ikea did you have to assemble it? And did you have to collect it yourself?

We had ours delivered but we self assembled it, as with everything from ikea

My mum delivered it as a surprise and we had to build it, it was easy except I built the frame back to front and puzzled for awhile over why I couldn't lay it flat. Soon worked it out.

When we moved here we discovered we could have ikea furniture delivered and built if we wanted. So you can definitely get things delivered and built, I love the size of our ikea one its huge. We can seat all 6 of us on it.

Thanks foxy and fugghet. I'm (recently ish)on my own with ds so bit daunted by self assembly. Especially as house so small! But heard good stuff about Ikea ones

Hmm, maybe not as the back is 'wood' so unless you plied loads of pillows on it, probably not. It does look really nice though. They had other proper sofa beds there for a bit more that we're v nice though.

Mum they can make it for you but for extra. I got my handyman to make it as I'm alone with ds all week.

Ikea Karlstad without a doubt. Great as a sofa (it's our main sofa) and great as a sofa bed.

I'm here in the US and we are in need of a sofa bed too. We are going with a second hand american leather king size sofa. It's stupidly expensive but second hand we paid $400. Its being moved this weekend. This is the link to their website. It is very comfortable compared to a regular sofa bed.

If you have the storage, I know someone who has a sofa bed that must be 40 Years old and since it is still a great sofa he baught a 2 inch thick memory foam mat thatis meant ti be used directly on the floor. I'm really bony so unless I am well supported I get in pain real fast. The mat on top of the stone hard bed is a charm. So even if the bed is not amazing you can improve it.
