Would this look silly in a sitting room?

I love it but am a bit worried it may be more of a kid's room rug.

I have that stripey rug I think, Viva - also in front of a log burner. I bought it as a temporary solution in front of the log burner, to be honest, but it's actually really nice, seems like decent quality, and is wearing really well. I'm really pleased with it.

I love the foxy rug too, but I think my room is a bit too "formal" for that - and I would also be a bit concerned that it would date.

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 04/06/2015 14:07

STRIPY! I can spell, I promise!

Notso · 04/06/2015 14:08

I love that fox print. I really want the wallpaper in the living room but DH doesn't agree.

dwinnol · 04/06/2015 14:10

I have the striped one, but now that i've seen the foxy one i want that instead. Go for it, life really is too short to deny yourself these small pleasures.

dwinnol · 04/06/2015 14:12

The striped one is quite good at camouflaging the dog hairs though.

GatoradeMeBitch · 04/06/2015 14:24

Zoella has that rug in her bathroom (DN makes me watch her videos.)

VivaLeBeaver · 04/06/2015 14:52

Still not decided. Keep staring at current rug and trying to work out which would look better as a replacement. I wish I wasn't so bloody indecisive!

I think the stripe rug would maybe suit the room more. But I like the fox rug better. But the fox rug might date and the stripe rug wouldn't get noticeably grubby as much as the fox one might.

The striped one is indeed fantastic camouflage for my general lack of hoovering, Dwinnol Grin

Selks · 04/06/2015 18:57

Seeing your living room pic now Viva, I reckon the foxy one would look ace.

Devora · 04/06/2015 22:05

How about: get the fox rug, love it for two years. Then, when you've had enough, move it into another room (a kid's room!) and buy the sensible striped one. Gwan, get it out of your system.

ChishandFips33 · 06/06/2015 14:07

You seem to have an animal theme starting with your ornaments so the Fox rug would completely be in keeping - any visitors that already know you would know your personality well so wouldn't question your choice. Random/seldom visitors you've chance not to see again soon so who cares what they think - I'm with the others.

I've ordered the fox one! Thanks. Grin

Yay! Post a new pic when it arrives Viva Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 06/06/2015 16:20

I haven't told Dh! He's in France, will be a nice suprise for him when he gets back.

Stinkersmum · 06/06/2015 16:22

Defo the fox one. Glad you went for it!

EdwinaLIzzard · 08/06/2015 11:57

Glad you went for the fox one - it will look lovely in front of the wood burner

I have the foxy hand towel in my downstairs loo and it makes me smile every time I have a wee Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 09/06/2015 18:56

It's here, I'm not sure about it. Looks darker than I expected. Dunno if ive ordered the right one!

Checked and I have ordered the right colour but IRL it looks browner and I was expecting it to be more grey.

OP posts:
Gatekeeper · 09/06/2015 19:27

Original photo looks a lot more grey than yours Viva; seems to get a bit 'lost' on your carpet. Sad

ChishandFips33 · 09/06/2015 20:34

I like it but there is def less contrast between fox and background - have you queried it? I remember you saying it wasn't cheap

VivaLeBeaver · 09/06/2015 20:39

It's definietely the right rug. Only comes in three colours, this brown/grey one, a blue background and then I think a yellow one.

Was £150! I don't love it like I thought I would.

I bought it from the rugseller online. Don't really think I can return it if ive opened it and put it on the floor. I've checked the Scion (make) website and Their photos also show it as grey, but on their site it does say that people should see the rug in person before buying so they can know the correct colour shade.

Aren't you protected by distance selling rules?

VivaLeBeaver · 09/06/2015 20:46

Ok, have had a look and I can return it. Have to pay delivery. How much will a heavy rug cost to post back?

OP posts:
cashewnutty · 09/06/2015 20:51

I like it. I think it is a grower.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/06/2015 20:56

That's what I'm not sure about. I keep going and looking at it. Dd loves it, so does the dog!
