Interior design failure... Please help sort out my bathroom!

I have a bathroom and an ensuite that desperately need some finishing off. Can't change any of the fittings as they're quite new but we had to go for basic as it was all done on a shoestring. I really need some help making them look nice...

Bathroom (the blue one) will have mosaic tiles round the mirror. Can change walls and add stuff (pictures? Ornaments?!).

Ensuite (the beige one) can be painted and stuff added. Doesn't feel very luxurious at all at the moment, partly because we went for the most basic tiles and it's a small space. I've done lots of looking through Pinterest but I'm rubbish at translating it into actual ideas.

Please help me sort them out!!

I think I would paint the blue bathroom white. I would then accessorize using the blues in the mosiac tiles. Start with a blind, then towels, wicker or wooden baskets for toys and toiletries. Plants make a huge difference as well.

They are unfussy and look nicely done.

The ensuite will look bigger if there is just a simple flat mirror on the wall above the sink and a storage cupboard on the wall where the loo is instead. Add a stainless steel towel ring between the shower and sink for hanging your bath towel when you're in the shower.

For the main bathroom, a tall storage unit between the door and bath to clear the clutter away. Put a nice plant on the window ledge or top of the cistern. Add some stainless steel baskets to wall in the shower for shower gel, shampoo, etc so the top edge of the bath is clear - easier to clean too.

I think the blue on the walls is not quite right because it isn't the rich blue of the tiles. Get some towels to match the tiles to pull it all together. Could you paint the wood the hooks are fixed to white to blend with the door or replace with stainless steel or chrome hooks instead?

Right, I'm going to paint the bathroom window wall white and see how that looks - may go further and do more walls if necessary. Will add a plant - hadn't thought of that - and some wicker baskets on a couple shelves in the corner at the foot of the bath.

I still can't work out what to do with the ensuite :-( I agree about it looking bigger if we move the cupboard but it's really useful there. How do I make it look more homely?!

If you don't fancy moving the cupboard in the ensuite, how about a picture of sort sort on the wall above the loo and a shelf under that, could be just a narrow one, with some nice small storage, etc or a towel storage rack with colourful towels?

You need to inject some colour into the ensuite.

Change the cream walls to white, and then choose a colour to accessorize with, and then hang some frames colourful prints above the toilet...

or...

Go bold and choose a great patterned wallpaper and cover all the walls in the ensuite with it. That would make it into a real feature. Then keep all towels white and nothing else on the walls.

I'd also change the blue bathroom to white walls, to emphasise the blue mosaic tiles better. Also, are you using teal towels and bah mat in there permanently? Might be better to stick with white or go for a bold vibrant blue like the tiles? Framed black and white photos might look good in there too?

The teal towels and bath mat were an experiment at injecting more colour..! I like the idea of black and white photos - was thinking colour ones wouldn't look right but black and white will, I think. Would wallpaper not peel off pretty fast in an ensuite without windows? Or is there a special type I could use?

What about this colour in the blue bathroom here I realise you can't change the tiles but this might make them stand out more.

If you do the beige bathroom white, you can use the teal towels in there then.

Is there an extractor fan in the ensuite? Make sure you use that when you shower, and use wallpaper adhesive for bathrooms and it should be fine.

Painting it white might be easier though, and then yes you can use the teal towels etc in there, that would look nice!

The cream bathroom would look tons better in a richer colour - what about a teal or olive? It would make the white bathroom pop against it.

Dark painted rooms look much more finished than pale neutrals so I would paint the walls rich blue or green.
Hague Blue by Farrow and Ball is a good colour.

I agree with oilbas paint the blue bathroom white. Then add a big pile of fluffy striped blue white towels (don't have to be big towels, maybe grade them to flannel on top)

These would sit on the shelf behind loo and maybe by bath. Warn DCs not for use!

2-3 large classy bottles on window ledge.

Brown towels for the other shower room, shades of brown would be nice.

keep toys etc out of sight or in tasteful box.

Possibly not Brilliant White for walls, see what goes with bathroom suite.

I would pick the deepest colour from the floors and do the walls in that colour not white imho No matchy towels or anything I always put those in airing cupboard One lovely large mirror/painting and keep all clutter hidden if possible.
