Colours for a dining room

Hi

We have just bought a new build property. We have a dining room 10ft by 10ft8". We have bought the below dining set:

We are probably going to re-paint a small sideboard we own the same colour as the table legs, and then have no other furniture in there.

....And that is about it as far as we have got!

I have no idea what colour to paint the walls, whether to have curtains and if so colour / pattern, or whether to have patterned wall paper as a way of adding interest, no idea about what lighting would suit, accessories etc.

Do any of you lovely people have any ideas?

But I must ask why did you buy a really expensive big item before you decided what look you wanted?

Well we like the dining room table, and figured we can design around that. I think it would surely be harder to create a very specific 'look' and then try and find a specific item of furniture to match that look?

I really need help with ideas for sitting room. I'm quite clueless. The room is really big and has a big bay window. It has high ceilings and an old fireplace that has to remain. Any ideas of colours? . We are moving into this house in next few weeks so want to get it decorated before I move in. I am bringing a brown leather sofa and two chairs with me. Any nice colours and is painting the chimney breast a bit boring now? Please help. I'm open to any colours you can recommend?, thanks
