Anyone have the ikea hemnes daybed?

Considering this as a spare bed option. Does anyone have it and use it for adults to sleep on? All the comments I've found have been where children have it as their bed. We would need it set up as a double and used for parents to sleep on when visiting, 2-3 consecutive nights max. If anyone has any comments I'd be grateful- especially whether the wooden edging makes one person feel trapped?

Also should add - we would want to use the recommended mattresses so we don't have to store one elsewhere. Other options we are considering is an ikea sofa bed but the daybed is slightly more compact I think

We have one in our spare room and have had parents and in laws to sleep for a few days at a time. We got a matress topper to make it more comfortable and no-one has complained! It works well when not folded out in the room. Get a good quality quilt and pillows with freshly ironed linen on and I think it's fine.

I've slept on one at a friend's and it's just lovely. Looks really nice, lots of storage space, very comfy.

Oh and it's fine with the wooden edge beside a wall.

We have it. No complants yet.

Yes, we have one too. We bought good quality mattresses for it so I think that's helped. I store the spare one behind the bed when it's not in use and you can't see it. We have people staying for up to a month as we live abroad and have never had any complaints. Plus, the storage gives you somewhere to store the bedding.

I don't particularly like the way it looks but it's not in a room that's used very often so it doesn't really matter. It's also not particularly comfortable if you're going to be using it as a sofa a lot. Ours is rammed with cushions when it's in day mode.

We have it in our tiny guest room and it works well. We used to use it for a child and it was fine for him as well.

We were very kindly given one by a friend, it's currently our main sofa and spare bed. Very comfortable as far as sofa beds go!

Thanks all. Will go and try it again and the karlstad sofa bed and decide. Sounds like it would be ok in bed mode, I'm just wondering re comfort as a sofa and if it isn't so comfy why I'm considering it... It's for our guest room / study so it wouldn't have everyday use but can see it being used as the kids get older as an alternative tv / games console room so can't decide how much it matters

I have it! It's lovely. Although, it's so old it's called something else. We put the two mattresses on top of each other.
