We are moving house next week. Old house is a Victorian mid terrace (with stripped pine floorboards, panelled doors, original fireplaces, coving, sash windows etc). We have a mix of antique pine and modern designer furniture. New house is a converted barn but no original features inside. The space is great but v different from our current home. It is quite bland with sandy coloured tiles on the living room and dining room floor, lots of French doors and no focal point. Our decorating style is v much plain white walls with colour/interest from the accessories and whilst that will translate ok into the new property I'm struggling with the fact that there is no focal point like a fireplace/mantelpiece. It is all underfloor heating. Home decor magazines all seem to focus living rooms on a fireplace/stove but we will have neither. Can anyone suggest ideas how I could address this?
