Stylish ceiling lights/lamps for low ceilings - do they actually exist?

I am after some ceiling light fittings for my sitting room in a modern house.
I cannot find anything remotely stylish that isn't a pendant type light. Flush/short ceiling lights all seem to have been designed in the 80's. All the cool light fittings seem to me made for high ceiling-ed Victorian type houses. Surely someone somewhere has spotted the gap in the market....

the lighting store (either online or in their london shops) and BHS have some decent flush fittings
