Has anyone got or used a Wash bowl (glass or ceramic)

We are about to renovate our guest bathroom and I wanted something a little bit different to give it the wow factor, as at the moment I think the plan looks a bit boring. I really love the look of a wash bowl (glass or ceramic) sat on top of a little unit. I can find the bowls online but I am struggling to know what size unit I would need to sit them on, to look good. Also I don't know how practical they are to use.

I don't have one, but various posters have suggested they're difficult to keep clean.

I thought they might be (which is why I did not go for one in our main bathroom), but as its only for a guest bathroom & it would not be used very often, I thought it might be OK.

We have a ceramic bowl on top of a vanity in our main bathroom and I hate it! It looks lovely but is an absolute pain to use and keep clean. The main issue is the projection of the tap, because it comes to the middle of the bowl (tall and long tap to get over the bowl) it doesn't leave much space for washing your face/brushing teeth etc. Water goes everywhere, I clean it up with a flannel which is kept to the side but DH always forgets and it just causes an absolute mess then it dries and you have water marks (we have black granite top so it shows up!) It would be much better if the tap was mounted on the bowl just to give you that little bit more room. I plan on moving the sink down into our downstairs w/c and utility once it's ready and replace the sink upstairs. I would seriously consider how much use it's going to get, definitely ok for a wash hands only job, but as a regularly used morning/evening sink I wouldn't recommend.
I wish I had done some research into these kinds of sinks before hand as I have another 2 bowls sat in my garage that I'm definitely not going to use now Blush

Agree with every word of JollyHolly's criticism.
I too thought they looked great and wanted one until we went on holiday. The rented cottage had these abominations. We are all face washers and teeth brushers and were driven bonkers by the tap. They are also very splashy. GRRR
