how good is your John Lewis sofa?

we've been out looking for sofas today, and the two I like were both JL. They are a bit more expensive than I'd ideally spend, but our awkwardly shaped room means not many sofas will fit in the right spaces. We've could spend the extra, but I'm after reassurances that the things won't be knackered after a couple of years.

Id like to know this, too. I've found my perfect sofa and perfect fabric at JL, nothing else even comes close to it, but it's 30% more than my second choice.

I have a sofa from John Lewis that's about 13 years old or so and is still very comfortable. Getting a little worn out in terms of parts that zip on still zipping on but it's still lovely :)

Thanks Miranda,

My current M&S sofa has given me seven good years at about £650, so I'd be happy with 13 years for £1200.

Our JL sofa bed is 15yo and still going strong. Fabric's barely faded, and the back cushions are a bit mis-shapen, but its not saggy or creaky at all. Fold-out sprung bed is used at least 2-3 times a year and works perfectly. It's also gone through a house move.

So I rate it Grin

I'm bored of our two - but they're only 9 years old and still perfect, so couldn't possibly justify changing them. We'll just have to get a bigger house that requires more sofas.

Thanks for all the answers, and the reassurances.
Our next best ones were M&S, and less half the price, but only came in three colours, none of which I would ideally have chosen. I might see if I can pull off the mismatched thing and have one of each, but not sure if I have the confidence in my own eye IYSWIM.

I went through this and chose M&s ones over John Lewis due to the price difference - I regret it every day. They're really poor, fabric on one has bobbled even though they're the same fabric just different colours and the back cushions are just filled with two rolls of wadding so sag very badly.
