Is there such a thing as a kitchen lamp?

Looking for a bit of guidance on lighting situation. We've just moved into new house which has LOTS of spotlights in the kitchen. We keep leaving them on all the time as you need to walk through the kitchen to get anywhere but I want something a) cheaper to run, and b) a bit more subtle. House is rented so I'm not going to do anything drastic. I was wondering about some kind of lamp but it seems an odd addition to a kitchen - any ideas on wise MNers??

LED strip lighting is cheap to buy and can be stuck under the cabinets or counters.

A Tiffany type lamp probably look good. and if you are lucky, maybe a lamp that serve as a coat hanger too. Don't know if such thing exist though.

I have lamps in my kitchen but it is a kitchen / family room. The lamps fit with the overall style of the room. So long as your lamps fit with the decor style of the room they will look fine- eg, a Tiffany lamp in a minimalist gloss kitchen would look out of place, but something simpler and more in keeping with the overall theme will blend better.

I have a lamp in my kitchen white stick base with a pretty floral shade from bhs think it was about a tenner, put it on in the evening rather than the spots, much nicer ambience & cheaper as its just one low energy bulb.
