recovering an upholstered chair back

got some lovely comfy high backed upholstered chairs from ebay but don't like the fabric so planned to recover them.

the seat and main back rest of the chair is ok, but how to do the actual back back? found a YouTube video where she used some kind of metal strip at the top of the seat back but underneath the fabric, but I couldn't get what she called it

reluctant to measure and sew a slip cover, which will go wrong and not make the fabric as taut

any ideas?

Get an upholsterer to do it, it is NOT as easy as it looks and you may ruin the fabric trying! Smile

There are lots of tutorials and tips on Pinterest. I used a combination of upholstery tacks, the metal strip and staple gun. It WAS hard work and took a lot of time and fabric, so was not a cheap option. Good luck
