How many walls to paint darker colour?

We've started decorating what will be our lounge (but could change back to our dining room!).

We were going to put a dark colour on one wall (Mountain Rain, looks like a soft petrol though) and paint the other three walls a light colour (Parchment - white/cream shade).

We've already put the mountain rain on wall as planned and painted the window wall with the Parchment. DH is wondering whether we should change our thoughts and paint three in the mountain rain, and leave the window wall only with Parchment. It is a south/southwest facing room so light and could risk taking more of a dark colour. My only reservation is that quite a lot of our other rooms are north facing and darker, so I don't want another dark room.

Any thoughts?

I'd say all or one would look best. Unless you have a good reason for 2 like both walls an L shaped sofa is on. IMHO 3 would be the worst number and look like you haven't got round to finishing the painting :)

What's the reason for the window wall being white? If it's just 'cos you've already painted it that's a bad reason :)
