How much would you pay for large secondhand Hulsta wardrobe?

Can't actually find out on the internet! (Nowt on ebay) House vendors trying to sell it to us for 1600, which sounds like a lot for a secondhand wardrobe! But I have no idea, maybe it was 5 grand to start with. Could say no, but the wooden flooring only goes as far as the wardrobe edges so if it's removed, we're a bit stuffed unless we manage to get one exactly the same size.

Does this help ?

Thanks Agnes. Hmmmm...yup, seems they are pretty pricey so probably a reasonable price secondhand. I think we're going to have to say, sorry, no and try and figure out the floor somehow.

It's quite strange as the house is pretty bog standard 80's newbuild! Anyway, dd (6) is likely to have that room so I think a 1600 wardrobe is a bit luxurious for her. Will get some pine affair and Annie Sloan it.

Offer them £800, tell them it's all you can afford.

Chippednailvarnish · 25/03/2015 19:52

Could you see if the IKEA Pax range would measure the same?

MerryMarigold · 25/03/2015 20:11

Yes, Chipped, I had that thought. Had a quick look at the Pax and to be honest, it was quite expensive to fit in the size of that space (going on a grand). It may be cheaper to get the boards done in that space even if it is a 'patch'. I'm sure it wouldn't be noticeable once there was a rug, bed etc. It's a great storage space, but not sure how much storage one little girl needs! I'd just end up keeping clothes I don't fit anymore and vainly hope I will one day.

You'll definitely get pax secondhand on eBay for less than a grand!

ToddleWaddle · 25/03/2015 20:17

Is it fitted? Would it not be part of fixtures and fittings?
Might not be worth the hassle of them moving it! Make sure you get a proper list of what is staying so no surprises.

MerryMarigold · 25/03/2015 21:18

It isn't fully fitted. Apparently it is attached to the wall with clips or something. They were upfront that it wasn't included though it was only my sharp sister who noticed the new flooring did not reach under the wardrobe! I think for a grand they may be bothered to move it.

Chipped, I think secondhand would be difficult if it had to fit into the place.

For that amount of money you may be able to get a carpenter to make something to fit (MDF) and paint it which might be cheaper than doing the floor plus a wardrobe iyswim.

MerryMarigold · 26/03/2015 15:59

Thanks for advice. Offered 800 and she's thinking about it! Don't really need it so big but the floor is an issue. It is a very good quality and massive wardrobe so think it will last till we leave the house, whenever that may be!

I'd be suggesting a reduction in the price you are paying given that they are not leaving the wardrobe and you will have to rectify the flooring, or that they agree to leave it for a price you can agree on. You are in a good negotiating position - they won't want to risk losing their sale over a wardrobe.

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2015 15:52

They sold the house to an investor and are currently renting it from him. He is selling it, so there is no negotiating.

Interesting as we want to sell our nolte hulsta wardrobe . Think we paid a few thousand about 12 yrs ago and it is in excellent condition but tbh I wouldn't expect to get more than a few hundred for it 2nd hand .
I have searched completed listings on eBay for nolte wardrobes and thats the figure that came up.

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2015 17:56

ggirl, this one is 3.5m wide though. I don't know what range it is. I think it's beech and it has mirrored sliding doors.

OP posts:
MerryMarigold · 27/03/2015 17:57

ps. how do you search a completed listing?

OP posts:
ggirl · 27/03/2015 18:15

yup ours is that big , with mirrored doors in one section , drawers in two of the sections. Its actually three wardrobes together.

You search for the item ..so nolte , then on the left hand side there is an option for completed listings. The ones with the amount in green have actually sold , the ones in black haven't

MerryMarigold · 28/03/2015 09:32

Thanks ggirl

I would buy it if you can agree a fair price. DD won't be 6 forever and she'll soon enough be a potentially fashion obsessed teen with loads of clothes. Cheap wardrobes are so flimsy you might as well have a decent one. Good that it's already fixed as no safety issue. Somewhere for you to store your opposite season clothes in short term.
