Hallway in shades of brown - carpet?

Stairs are going to be striped - current choice is a beige/grey/brown mix, & wall colours came from that. Below dado is chocolatey, above is a very pale similar colour.

Hall will be Karndean (not decided yet)

Landing, attic stairs & attic floor will be plain 80/20. There's one colour which goes terribly well but I wonder if it's a bit too matchy...

This is a rough idea of the colours (but in less than ideal light)

Match the plain carpet to one of the colours in the striped carpet on the stairs. Otherwise it will always look disjointed and as though you didn't think to match them up. I would not go for matching the darkest brown in the striped carpet though. Very dark colours can be totally light sapping and show up every speck of dirt.

I thought the very dark brown might be a bit light-sapping. Trouble is DH spills drinks a lot (think Mrs Overall ) & isn't good at mopping up so I'm hoping to conceal stains...

I might reconsider the stripe colours (although there's a lovely beigey/grey heathery bit which would look fab...)

The stripes would go straight up to a small square bit of landing at the top & then there's a step up to the main landing on the R, so the plain would be different angle & light where it meets the stripes, which might mean a slight mismatch wouldn't show. I just need to decide if the current choice of stripes will look good next to the chocolate paint. (I am hopeless at this stuff!)

Where are you op? I've got a heather super top twist from carpet right throughout the whole house that camouflages everything. Roughly £16.99/m2 at the Mo. If you're anywhere near romford I have 35m2 coming up tomorrow to make way for oak floor...
