What colour kitchen flooring?

Our kitchen is currently as follows: white units, solid beech worktop, white tiles, stainless steel appliances and barstools. we just want to repaint the walls white and replace the yucky vinyl floor which is a beigey colour. What colour floor - I'm thinking a pale grey would tie in with the "grey" of the appliances and stop it looking too clinical. Either that or white (I know not practical!), or should I stick with beigey to tie in with the worktop? DH suggested black but I don't want to bring in lots of different colours or do you think black would make it less boring? Confused...

Black would be a fecking nightmare to keep clean, every mark would show. I can't see that white, beech and steel is many colours. Tbh I would go for something really funky like lime green, orange or pink. But that's just me.
In a sensible world I would link to the beech because I'm not a lover of grey (currently ripping up grey floor tiles).

Thanks for replying. I'm not brave enough for a funky colour! I'd really like to go for white I think Blush, I have a dog and cat so mop practically every day anyway whatever colour I have! Will carry on thinking...

I'm just updating my kitchen a bit atm and I have walnut work tops, white cupboards and tiles and I went for a walnut effect laminate on the floor too. My walls are neutral apart from one feature wall and I've baught colour in with the blind and accessories

That sounds beautiful. I don't want laminate though as we have that everywhere else. Wish my worktops were darker wood Hmm they do need sanding and re-oiling so hopefully they'll look better.

I'd also go for walnut coloured flooring . Two different woods look fine IMO

Unles you are a fan of beech colour .

Don't go for black or white . It doesn't matter if you mop every day , it will always look dirty

Thanks for suggestions. DH is painting it next weekend so I'm going to see whether that's enough of a freshen up as I gave the floor a massive scrubbing and it's looking much better so might just stick with the stuff we've got as it ties in with the beech. In an ideal world I'd have glossy white tiles and a brand new kitchen - alas!
