Hi all,

We're just waiting to exchange contracts on our new house. It's substantially larger than where we currently live, and it'll be lovely to have a minimalistic rather than cluttered feel. Our furniture will do just fine. But we will have a large open plan lounge/diner/garden room. I want to create a distinction between the lounge and dining area without segregating the area off totally. Any ideas on a nice divider? I thought about arranging the sofas so that they create the divide but I'm wondering if there's a more elegant way of separating the areas? Maybe an open bookshelf sort of thing- though I won't be keeping books on it. I also need to bear in mind my almost one year old DD as I don't want her pulling anything over on to herself.

Any ideas greatly appreciated! :-)

5 x 5 Expedit from Ikea? I think they're now called Kallax? If you have a wall to fix it to it'll be secure.

I would 2nd the expedite but not sure on the Kallax aren't they meant to be thinner therefore lighter?

Sofa with a sideboard up against its back facing into the dining area? Zone with rugs and lamps.
