Anyone have a trundle bed for ds or dd?

We need to give dd, ds's bed now she's too big for her cot. Trying to decide what sort of bed to get ds 7. We don't have a spare room so wondering if a trundle bed would be a good idea so there's a pull out spare bed.
Has anyone got one for their dc & would recommend?

We have one from mamas and papas for our DS.

Some are quite high off the ground to accommodate the extra bed. You might need a bed guard for a while.

My dd has one from m&s which is great quality and the spare bed is very comfy I'm told.

They are high off the ground but 7 is plenty old enough for one. We use ours all the time.

Thank you, yes it is for the 7 year old not the 3 year old so think he'd be fine. Has anyone bought one recently? We've just been out to the bed stores and saw a couple and they were about £600 without mattress! Would like to know where else to look for a smaller budget or is this generally what they cost?

We bought our Thuka beds from Rainbow Wood

www.rainbowwoodsouth.co.uk/thuka-hit32-single-bed.php

The Thuka Hit here is the cheaper model, but still good quality.

You'll need to buy a European size mattress (10cm wider than standard) for the main bed (trundle bed has one).

We got ours from next and has been great for dd aged 5 with friends sleeping over or made up as a large double for visiting grandparents. The quality of the mattress makes a huge difference.

Very good quality.

My son has had a trundle bed since he was 2. Yes it is high but we dutifully pulled out the trundle every night in case he rolled off (he never did!).

I made sure to buy a bed where the trundle had slats, some were just mattresses on a flat wooden base. I also wanted a full size trundle.

We have this one and I recommend it, it's completly solid. I managed to put it together myself and it's still together three years later!

Buy mattresses from ikea if you have one nearby, much cheaper,. The top bed takes a European size single, the trundle normal uk single size.

We have the ikea hemnes daybed. Good as it also has storage-just buy decent mattresses. Our daughter went into it at 2 so not too high.
