Sheer roller blinds - recommendations?

I am looking for roller blinds to block out the view (but not all the light) for a Victorian house with large bay downstairs and windows upstairs.

Am prepared to fit myself. Trying to keep costs low.

Its a bewildering array and I know blinds firms can be a rip off. Any recommendations?

I'm looking for something similar. I'm considering buying ready-hemmed voile from JL and fitting it myself using a wooden pole (but I'm only looking for a blind for the lower 2/3 of a huge sitting room window which is on the street).

Get roller blind kits, and voile and make them yourself, it's fairly simple to do, I think the trickiest bit would be hemming the voile.

That way you can choose whatever colour/thickness of voile that lets in the most light.

Tuiss are v reasonably priced and you fit yourself

I've got these in the sun room. Roller blind with a sheer/opaque stripe.

I like the blinds from John Lewis, easy to cut and fit. We have some of their 'daylight' blinds in the kitchen, they let in plenty of light. Go for a pale colour.

How bulky are the headings for those, always? I am fitting privacy blinds on the lower part of sash windows and want the uppermost part of the window uncovered for extra light. If the fittings are too proud of the frame they'll look funny.

Oh, I dont think the John lewis will look very nice fitted half way down on a sash, the fittings I think are too bulky.

You could consider frosting film for the bottom half of the windows, but that would then raise up with the window when you open it. I have fitted this sort of frosting myself before www.purlfrost.com/

You can get 'bottom up' blinds for sash windows too, or plantation shutters can be made in two halves.

Ikea 'Enje' (I think). They look 10 times the price they cost

Another vote for Ikea Enje. Fabulous they are! Though they do not block view inside when dark outside etc

They do different colours too. .. The grey is nice. You can see outside but people can't really see in unless the light is on...
