Which wall tiles in a bathroom with a patterned floor

I want plain white tiles on the wall - what kind of shape, size and finish would you go for? I want it to look modern, I don't want a total 'heritage' style look.

Also, do you think it would be better to do the whole floor in the patterned tile or do a plain border as in the picture so it doesn't overwhelm the room?
