What is like a sunburst mirror but isn't a sunburst mirror?

My sitting room feels a bit like a waiting room - direct entrance from street, two sofas facing each other, lots of straight lines, no real focal point. The biggest wall currently has two pictures on it, but I think we need something round there - big, round, focal pointy.

I love the idea of a big sunburst mirror but do we reckon they're just getting a bit too ubiquitous? If so, any advice on what else could work? I generally have a bit of a horror of mass-produced wall art but I guess if it was lovely enough I could change my mind.

Oh, and cheap is a definite bonus!

Wow! £700 is vvvv pricey. I'm wondering if I should just give up!

Devora · 16/01/2015 20:55

I think this is the longest thread I've ever started. The trick is to write all the posts yourself Grin

I'm leaving the office now; will log on later to see if someone has popped up to tell me that sunburst mirrors are this year's pebbly shite and the next big thing is X, which is newly available for less than the price of spraypainted lolly sticks from Y.

I like those, *CockBollocks!

Charles nice fish! Bet you could make those with some lolly sticks and a tube of glitter glue Grin

Devora · 16/01/2015 21:26

Maybe I could create a vintage style starburst with a broken umbrella and some rivets?

Grin

I reckon you could start an Etsy business with ideas like that!!

Ihearthickson · 16/01/2015 21:53

We have this www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/homeware/mirrors/mirrors/home-of-style-round-faceted-starburst-mirror-279434
because we can afford the G&G ones

Ihearthickson · 16/01/2015 21:53

Can't not can!

Devora · 16/01/2015 21:56

It's so nice to get all the cheapos on this thread! I swear, everything in my house is from boot sales, ebay or Ikea. Or picked out of a skip and repainted.

I'll be getting this on paydaywww.littlewoods.com/starburst-metal-wall-art/1185345344.prd?productId=prod1081775465

Devora · 18/01/2015 22:07

Gold star to Ihatemytoes for coming up with something that is like a sunburst mirror but isn't, in fact, a sunburst mirror.

Lots of lovely suggestions but nothing quite hitting the spot. Am beginning to seriously consider creating my own out of broken bicycle spokes and gold spray paint. I could post the results here to give you all a laugh, then sell it on ebay and use the proceeds to buy up Graham & Green.

TimetohittheroadJack · 23/01/2015 11:57

I have just spent all morning looking for a sunburst mirror. The ones i really really like are so expensive!

Have ended up buying this (its not as big or as sparkly as I'd like, but it is only £24.99 : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281425066359

TimetohittheroadJack · 23/01/2015 12:02

Deraila : those are cool. You can get 2 smaller ones the same on ebay for £35 : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Round-Recycled-Magazine-Mirrors-two-mirrors-CLEARANCE-/291356221970?pt=UK_Home_HomeDecor_Frames&hash=item43d62f2212

PS, i have nothing to do with either of these ebay listings! Its just I thought the prices were good.

deraila · 23/01/2015 12:39

Ah, ok thanks. Still deciding whether to order the habitat one as want a big one to fill above fire.

DeeCayed · 27/01/2015 21:20

Ooh, I do quite like that, Dee - pleasingly retro. Can't see the size or where it's from, though?

OP posts:
DeeCayed · 27/01/2015 23:19

It's from argos, and is 78cm high.
I'll add another photo with details if you want them Smile

We have this on our living room wall. I had been after a vintage sunburst clock for ages but they do go for ridiculous amounts of £££, and actually out of all the one's I was watching, this is the one I liked best.

I love that, DavetheCat. They are ridiculously expensive on ebay, aren't they?
