Engineered wood floor in kitchen?

We are considering this as we won't have underfloor heating and so tiles would be cold underfoot. Also, we really like the look of wood throughout the open plan kitchen and family room.

Is wood a crazy choice for a kitchen floor? Does anyone have any experiences of it?

The only appliance which we will have in the kitchen which might conceivably leak is the dishwasher.

I have engineered oak on my ground floor, including the kitchen. It's been down over a year now and have had no problems with it whatsoever ??
