i have a shaker style kitchen that is 10 years old. It's in a light beech colour and I'd like to paint it cream or white. Does anyone have any experience of painting their cupboards and if so do you recommend the paint you used?

As I understand it, the best paint is an oil based eggshell. We used Farrow & Ball (which is now a water based eggshell) and it did not last at all well. It was scraped and scratched (revealing the wood underneath) within months (despite doing all the recommended prep, priming etc).

Our excellent decorator recommended a make called Holmans for cupboard paint to avoid chipping. You might need to google them. We are using their Feelings range Matt White to breathe new life into our kids built in wardrobes.
