Ok, this is truly riveting to me. What stair carpet or covering do you have, and how much did it cost? I have got dh's agreement to replace the stair carpet which was pretty worn 15 years ago when he bought the house as an ex-rental. Not sure how long it's going to take to save up for it. Anyone with a life, sorry about this thread.

only problem with striped / patterned carpet in my opinion is that you are restricted to patterened wall coverings / paper. for example I love book case wall paper which I hung up to the right of that picture, but it all seems too busy? thought it was the papers design at first - thought of covering with a different one. then realised any patterned paper will clash!
if the flooring had been wood effect or plain my guess is I would have preferred it, and not be painting over it Wink

bit of useless information there Grin

this is my dream stair carpet

Have had no stair carpet at all for nearly 2 years now.

We are in the process of painting our hall, stairs and landing - old old lady carpet has been taken up and we are having a striped carpet laid next week - I am really looking forward to it all being done. 2 sets of stairs and 2 landings, underlay and fitting has come to £800- which I am pleased with - I have also bought extra to do the stair thing - and so we have some if the cats decide to wreck a bit of it.
