I need a new bed but don't have ££££ - any ideas on brands to look at?

The boys have used it as a trampoline. It crunches. My back is killing me. I would like to go up to king size but i don't have thousands to spend esp as i need new sheets as i am going up a size. Any ideas on good brands to look at? I don't want metal or wood frame though so i suppose it will have to be divan ...

Could you spend money now just on a good mattress, and have on on the floor and save for a bed frame?

I wouldn't get a brand, ours is dreams or sleep easys own make but with a sprung divan and a built in mattress topper.

It's the comfiest bed & I miss it when we go away.

I love our IKEA king bed, was the best value we could find.

We have a wood frame with drawer storage.

Try Warren Evans. Nice beds. They do divans as well as wooden frames. They have a great sale too.

Would buy a decent Ikea foam mattress, whichever you find the most comfortable. Their mattresses are fairly good and foam lasts better than spring ones. Then I would wait until the ideal bed frame comes up in their bargain area. Also look on gumtree. People frequently buy ilea beds and or mattresses only to find that continental mattresses and beds are different sizes and they miss the deadline to bring them back. Also bargain area is great for ex display mattresses as long as you know what you want.
Our bed was something like £10 for king-size head and foot board from bargain corner, sides midbeam and slats at normal price (its the svelvik one, king size all in for around £70). Our mattress was an expensive unused Ikea one on gumtree for around £100.

continental mattresses and beds are different sizes

So you are tied in to buying ikea bed linen, too, or having British-sized fitted sheets that don't actually fit!

This is only regarding sheets. Also the difference is minimal and a king size British sheet will fit a continental double mattress with a bit of imagination also most single sheets will both uk and Ikea singles in my experience. Ikea sheets are fairly good quality and cheap. Still saves a lot.

We once had an ikea foam mattress for a child's room but it fell apart. I wouldn't.

There is a huge difference between cheap and expensive foam mattresses. Anyway the better Ikea mattresses come with a 25 yr warranty. I have slept most of the last 40odd years on Ikea mattresses and think they generally are good. Yes there are cheap crap ones as well.

Ikea now do standard sizes.
