prepping walls for painting

So, the wall paper is coming off fine, but there's a lot of glue still on the wall and there's a layer of paint that's come off in patches. What's the best way of getting the wall ready for painting? Without getting it re-plastered!

If its definitely emulsion and not gloss patches then try sugar soap, hot water and use a green pot scrubber sponge.

Fine sandpaper?

Or Wet&Dry paper, used wet with a cork block. Messy, but effective!
