Alcove shelving

In an Edwardian house with the walls painted green smoke and the woodwork antique white would it be better to paint the alcove shelves the same colour as the walls or woodwork. Thanks

Same colour as walls.

White - easier to change wall colour then

We have ours painted white to match woodwork in the room and the wall colour is F&B Pavilion Grey. If the wall colour is not too bright, white looks fine.

Woodwork, or a third colour.
