Simple ways to make over my house

I am looking for some cheap and simple ways I can make over my house, especially my sitting room. Any links to suggested items would be gratefully received. Budget and time are very limited.

The simplest thing is painting a wall or two. Pretty cheap and can make a big difference. Another idea is lighting. A couple of lamps really softens the mood of a room, especially in the winter.

If you have a relatively neutral colour scheme, you could buy new cushion covers and curtains in a totally new colour. Add a new lamp and colour coordinated candles etc, job done, no painting, no mess involved.

Colour scheme is fairly neutral. Any suggested links to cushions, lamps etc?

If you have a Dunelm by you, they are really good for cushions and stuff. They have a good website too.
