Hall/stairs carpet

Can anyone tell me where I can buy striped hall/stair carpet less than 4.0m wide. It seems to me you see lots of striped carpet advertised but every time I have tried to buy any there is so much wasted as stairs are less than 1.0m wide. Who buys that much carpet to waste more than half?

Am not an expert but we have a striped carpet on our stairs and when we bought it we just bought enough so that they could cut more than one strip per width (maybe 3)!! It looks lovely I think ... The stairs go up round the corner in the same way as the pic and there are a couple of joins ... Hope that helps

Thanks for that, not one of of the carpet showrooms we have visited have suggested that we could get more than strip per width! I guess this must depend on the pattern repeat, so I am now looking for a striped carpet with less pattern repeat e.g a simple brown/cream. Anyone got any suggestions where to find best choice (our local Carpetright not so good)?

Ours was from carpetright - original price when we started looking £80 per sq m - I said I loved the carpet but no way was paying that price - sales guy said to wait till they had one of their discount weekends and it ended up being less than £30 per sq m - the guy was excellent - fitter not so much ...

Funny enough, I picked up a new sample of striped carpet last week that comes in 4,2 & 1m wide. It's a rarity (I'm a fitter)
With the standard 4m width we work out a plan so you're not wasting much at all.

Stripes do look fantastic on stairs but don't often put carpets in hallways these days.

(I'm northwest if you live near)
