Are pelmets old hat?

5 bedroom windows including one very big one needing curtains.
It seems a lot of fabric in one room so I wondered about a pelmet over the big window to break it up.
Pinterest is not my friend, I can't find any inspiration online.
Any ideas?

I think plain box pelmets in an understated room are classic. Anything frilly or shaped is past it and will date like a fecker

Something like this will date better than...

Thanks squeezy I like those, but would I have to have them on all the windows ?

It would look a bit weird on just one, I think. Might look less weird if you are having blinds on 4 windows and curtains on the 5th but I'm not convinced.

mmm, think I agree about weird. They're big windows so too big for roman blinds. Maybe I'll just have simple curtain poles for all. Thanks.

I'm not a fan. I think even the plainest look a bit a fussy, except maybe with curtains on a really grand scale.

5 windows in a bedroom is a lot. I would consider blinds for the smaller windows, made of the same fabric as the curtains, or something complimentary but plainer.

I have four windows in my lounge (well three and a large set of patio doors with windows either side, we have Roman blinds on the windows and a huge pair of curtains across the doors/windows. All the same fabric and it looks lovely. I also like very plain pelmets as in picture one. Have one in DD room as it helps to black it out completely.

I've seen wooden pelmets that looked lovely, some in oak and some painted with a little pattern cut out.

Can I ask op and those of you with multiply windows are you using patterned fabric or quite plain?

I have a 4 window room and I'm worried a patterned fabric will be too overwhelming when all the curtains are closed.

HaveToWearHeels · 15/10/2014 09:32

BackTo I have plain silk curtains and blinds.

Truelymadlysleepy · 15/10/2014 12:29

back I haven't chosen fabric yet. I was thinking of a subtle pattern. With all that material it might look at a stage when the curtains are closed.
