Current lamp is wrong.

Need something taller for a start (I think) but in a style that won't compete with the glass, or the sideboard.

Was thinking of a dark brown shade, and if it was going to be metal would need to be brass coloured.

I don't know about the lamp - something similar shape but bigger. But I do love the picture of cows above and also the pottery.
Not much help sorry!

I have something with a round pottery base and a large shade that would look good there actually.

Slubberdegullion · 10/10/2014 19:26

I'm worried if I add another competing texture (like pottery) in there it will all be too much iyswim, or maybe not, I don't know, am going round in circles looking at lamps.
The brass lamp is certainly inoffensive but the current shade is just so meh.

Cows picture is Chinese cows Grin

How about actually having a floor lamp that is behind the chair and arcs over the chair and sideboard. You'd need to work out heights so it doesn't get in they way of the painting. Something like this www.made.com/lighting/floor-lamps/large-bow-lamp I quite like to mix up old and new

I think you need a lamp in the middle and glass on both sides. If you want to leave a gap in the middle you need a different painting.

burnishedsilver · 10/10/2014 21:47

..... something along these lines in the middle with a group of objects on each side.

Selks · 10/10/2014 21:49

I think you need a chunkier lamp base, such as this from Lombok

This is in the sale at the moment Laura Ashley

Georgiesgirl · 12/10/2014 08:04

Hmmm...try again brass lamp

Georgiesgirl · 12/10/2014 08:05

With a wide, shallow silk shade maybe?

SanityClause · 12/10/2014 08:08

Put a standard lamp behind the chair, then put the ornaments in the middle of the chest.

To my eye, it looks all wrong, with the lamp and ornaments looking like they are sitting at opposite ends of a SE of balance type scales.

WipsGlitter · 12/10/2014 08:08

Agree chunkier. The current one looks like a bedside light.
