Does anyone own a Daybed?

Hello

Also posted in Chat, before I remembered this topic exists!

I'm thinking about purchasing a daybed (probably Ikea), for DS bedroom.

This is somewhere I can kip if my DP snoring becomes unbearable, and for when DS (2yo) is ill and wants to sleep with me.

Was thinking once DS is old enough he can use as a bed, too?

If you have a daybed - which one do you have, and what do you use it for? Is it worth getting one?

Can't decide whether the single would do, or would I be better of getting one that turns into a double.

Are the single ones actually the size of a single bed? They seem smaller to me.

I like the look of the one that turns into a double, and has 3 drawers underneath.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I don't want to spend the money and then realise I've made a mistake!

Thanks in advance.

I have a daybed, which is actually a cabin bed cut down. We use it as a bed. As far as I'm aware, it's exactly the same width as a standard single. It's a bit of a pain, though, because you can't position it like a bed ie you can't put it in the centre of a room. And you can't prop yourself up on it in the same way as a bed because you have to sort of sprawl on it.

Given the choice, I'd have a bed.
