Bespoke furniture - kitchen table

Has anyone got any experience of having a kitchen table made to specifications? Is it insanely expensive? We're not after fancy material but need one with what are called 'pedestal' legs to fit with a new built-in bench in kitchen. All the ones I have found so far are a bit thick and clunky, sort of farmhouse kitchen style which would look a bit odd in our house.

We had one made by local furniture shop. It wasn't cheap but not wildly expensive. It was ages ago though.

Mil had one made. Tables aren't terribly expensive. It's the chairs that blow the budget.
