Voile/ blinds? And how is voile not just a net curtain?

I definitely don't want net curtains! But I have a house where I need some privacy and I don't want to mix the two for aesthetic reasons in viewing from the road ( by me, its not for sale nor going to be)

Its an old victorian terrace, and currently has Venetian blinds ( inherited from previous owners, v dark) in the lounge and nothing in the upper rooms. For fear of flashing the opposite folk, I need something- I'm nervous putting voile blinds in will be old fashioned but Venetian blinds will keep out the light.

Plus I'm worried voile blinds will look like net curtains and I hate nets!

Any advice v welcome!

We have the magic window film half way up our windows. It really is magic....

Shutters?

You can buy Ikea non woven material ones and cut them to size so they fit inside the window. I saw them in Victorian terraces and they look discreet and quite good.

For floor to ceiling windows I used linen voile which I bought in a fabric warehouse.

Shutters might be a bit dark, and I have curtains. I'm not sure about the reflective stuff, it might be a bit out there for where I live:)

I need to peer at Pinterest a bit and see what others are doing. Or look on rightmove for similar houses.

What about something like this.

We have them in silver in the kitchen and they're great, let most light in but you can't see in. Beware though- if you want privacy at night get curtains too. At night you wouldn't see out but everyone outside would see in. Smile

I hope you didn't discover that the hard way, EarSlaps!

Grin luckily not! Our kitchen is pretty private anyway.

Ooh, I like those! Thank you:)

What about these (pricey to buy but others/standard ones could be adapted??)

I got some linen look ones from dunelm, think they were called Amelia. They're not shiny like nets and look subtle from the outside. We have blinds that we pull down at night. Same thing, victorian terrace! Our opposite neighbours have halfway up shutters that look lovely, but we can see right in!
