Existing table lamps - how can I 'tart' them up?!

Looking for inspiration ...

I have 3 lamps similar to this one in my lounge - base on mine is chunkier ceramic and a matt, cream finish.

I can't afford to replace but are looking a bit dated now - wondering about decorating the shades but not sure how or what with?

This lampshade kit will enable you to make your own using any fabric you like, and it's really not difficult :)

You could use an Annie Sloane tester-pot for the bases,and I've used acrylic paint to change lampshades before.
