Painting front door

Have just put first coat of cream paint on front door. It was dark red and decidedly shabby - dull with some peeling.
But I am panicking as the first coat looks awful! You can see red through it and it just looks really patchy. It will look better after the 2nd coat won't it?

It'll probably take several, you should've used undercoat.

I was going to but the paint said no undercoat required for previously painted surfaces. Hope I haven't made a total mess of it.

Which paint is it?

Dulux Weathershield in Cream Tea

first coats always look awful! it will be fine, maybe give it three coats if it needs it?

I have done a second coat using a mini roller on the larger areas and it does look a bit better. Think it will definitely need three though.
Was planning to do the back door today too but that will have to wait!

Have now done four coats and it looks ok. You would never mistake it for a professional job but much better than it was before I started.

Glad it's come up ok.
