Needed a Steel engineer in Hertfordshire area

Can anyone help me?

Husband and I brought a gorgeous light a few years back. Unfortunately it's too tall, a steel rod needs to be shortened and re threaded. Does anyone know are recommend someone for the job?

Would need to be in the Hertfordshire area??

Just drive around any old industrial estate and stop at anything that has engineering on the sign. Worth a try are mechanics, rethreading , they probably have the taps and dies for cutting.
Also worth asking if there are any retired engineers in the neighbourhood.
