Queen size is like 1.5 single beds, so smaller than a double.
Never heard of Emperor, but sounds bigger than a Kingsize.

LizzieMint · 16/08/2014 21:06

I'd guess an emperor would be the same as super king, which is 6' wide? And queen is a small double - 4' wide.

Iggly · 16/08/2014 21:07

I thought a queen was bigger than a king?

Am guessing that emperor is even bigger.

Iggly · 16/08/2014 21:08

bed sizes

Pico2 · 16/08/2014 21:08

Googling it make it look like 7ft by 7ft. Which is bigger than a super king (6ft by 6ft 6).

LizzieMint · 16/08/2014 21:09

Ooh no apparently emperor is even bigger, 6'6" wide. Blimey, we have a super king and that's massive, can't imagine anyone needing an even bigger bed!

Pico2 · 16/08/2014 21:09

Queen is the US name for a King.

Pico2 · 16/08/2014 21:10

I think emperor might be the size defined by the company selling it. It sounds a nightmare to get sheets for.

BotoxBitch · 16/08/2014 21:13

I thought queen was bigger than king. I want the widest possible. I'm not fat but our bed gets invaded every morning by our growing little people Smile

Lizzie where did you buy it? I'm only now, there's a shortage of big beds

Oh, I long for an Emporer bed. Or two king size zipped together.

Or my own room with my own king size bed.

Pico2 · 16/08/2014 21:37

We have a super king, which is big enough for me, DH and DD when she appears in the middle of the night morning. I think it will be a squeeze with more than 1 DC and DD doesn't like sleeping on the zip-link bit.

LizzieMint · 16/08/2014 22:40

We bought ours years ago at a local bed shop. And our mattress is one piece, not zip-link and bloody heavy. It fits me, DH and three DCs in when they come in in the morning for a cuddle. I love our bed but it is ridiculously large - it's sort of a sleigh shape so although the mattress is 6'6" long, the whole bed is just over 8'.

BotoxBitch · 17/08/2014 06:15

Wow 8 ft wide? They have 7ft and 8f. All looked around 1.5k last night :(

We got our superking size bed from Dreams five years ago and it is the best money we have ever spent, we regularly have DS in with us too and all four of us can snuggle for books/tv if we want to. Our mattress is one piece and it was way more expensive than the sleigh bed frame but it is wonderful.

scousadelic · 25/08/2014 01:13

Queen is not a UK size as far as I know. Doesn't it go Single, Double, King, Super king here?

We have a superking and it is lovely, only problem is we are spoilt and hate it when we go away and have to sleep in an ordinary double (yes I know it's a first world problem)

Redglitter · 25/08/2014 01:24

I had a super king in a B&B recently. I'm contemplating knocking down an outside wall so I can get one in my bedroom. It was sheer heaven!

reddaisy · 25/08/2014 01:32

Us too Scouseadelic and we now hate going to stay at friends houses for the same reason. I want to get a mattress topper next, then I will never go anywhere!

scousadelic · 25/08/2014 11:49

red We bought a mattress with a memory foam layer on the top, so it's like a built-in mattress topper, and it is bliss! I could stay in it all day!

RayofSun · 25/08/2014 21:09

My understanding is that in Australia, an emperor is two doubles equivalent. Not sure if the same is true here.

reddaisy · 26/08/2014 00:43

Scouseadelic, sounds lovely! Where did you get it from? I am definitely going to get a new mattress when this one starts to feel ropey as life is too short not to sleep on a comfy bed!
