... to go with this wallpaper and black/grey settees

Foxy paper

I bought it on a whim, love it but don't know what to put with it!! I need an interior designer in my life!

Love that wallpaper, but if you've got black/grey settee you need some colour. What about a foxy orangey red? Plain though, not patterned.

WillowWoods · 13/08/2014 16:45

A deep mauve would look good.

RockinHippy · 13/08/2014 16:46

There's a few choices -

  1. contrast with cream curtains - I would go with something plain, but rich looking such as cream sateen or maybe a thick linen type & pick this up with same coloured mixed cream/cream printed cushions on your sofas
  1. Find a satin taffeta type fabric in the lighter sage green, or maybe mix satin taffeta in the 2 shades of green in the paper - use the darker shade as a deep hem boarder & add a gold beaded trim across the edge of the boarder - then you can pick up the golds & greens as cushions too.
  1. If you have lighter wooden furniture or flooring etc in the same room, oak, teak etc - get a wooden blind to pick up this colour & add cushions & throws to your sofas in the green shades

HTH

This is the sort of thing I mean with the curtains, but in shades to match your paper - you might get away with red beading trim & cushions, but take care with the shade if red

Wow, brilliant replies, absorbing all of them ... I never thought about plain cream.

Looked again & it's greys, not greens, Blush migraine eyes making me a bit colour blind - if it's true to what I'm seeing then it's still a green tone grey, so IMHO golds would work best as highlights, but reds would look good too if the shade is right

WillowWoods · 13/08/2014 21:31

Mauve linen.

WillowWoods · 13/08/2014 21:45

Brackets failed

BloodyNaffedOff · 13/08/2014 21:47

Rockinhippy - I hope you're migraine is better, the wallpaper is definitely not a greeny colour :)

I like some of the mauve that you showed me Willow, I'm also liking the cream idea at the moment

Go with any colour that you really like Bloo, but it should be colourful Smile

RockinHippy · 13/08/2014 22:41

Thanks Bloo it's eased off a bit as we've just had a storm here thats cleared the air, but it affects my vision& other weirdness more than a big bad headache. - I also think my iPad was affecting the colour too - looks very grey on here (main computer) Grin

As its a true grey, its much easier - I would suggest using the cream & purple together if you like them both - cream/ivory curtains, cushions, with added purple cushions, throws & maybe a rug too :)

My dh would be the first to say I'm not very good at choosing curtains (or rather that I am, but I'm too slow - 9 years on and I still haven't found any I like for our lounge Blush).

However, I have bought others in that time! And I've found that if you find a fabric you like then look for it on ebay as you'll probably find it significantly cheaper. I've had lots of nice stuff from places like Sanderson, Romo, Harlequin and Scion (who also make your foxy wallpaper) for £10-15 a metre instead of £30-60 a metre. Sometimes you have to wait a bit (set up a search to report to you every day if you're looking for something particular and know what it is) but everything I've wanted so far (apart from some v expensive BluebellGrey fabric that's £80+/metre. gulp.) has turned up.

Looking through the websites of the big fabric houses can also take up an evening or three but you can find loads of different ideas (and then go buy it cheaply on ebay!).

Thankyou for all your replies, I've gone with some Mauve ones from Next - not ground breaking but I've got a mauve and grey shaggy rug thing (sounds vile but is lovely)

Mauve and grey blend beautifully Bloo. Keep cool tones with cool.
