Ikea Metod

Are Ikea kitchens built to last? Might seem like a silly question, but I live in NI & most people seem to buy frm small Independant retailers. They're expensive & don't seem to want to be bothered with the small details. I looked at Metod today & love the internal drawer & cupboard elements. Think my DH & builder father would be horrified if I suggested an Ikea kitchen.

Hi, if you google 'ikea kitchen, mumsnet' there'll be lots of positive threads.
They are very robust by all accounts, just fiddly to put together and get services too - make lots of tea and biscuits to supply to your brother and DH and they'll be fine!

I'm currently tempted to change my door to the gloss ones but am worried about keeping them grease free (not that I have a frier but you know how the tops of your cupboards can get slattern alert!)

we have had an ikea metod in for about 3 months and looks amazing. the internal drawers are the best bit....It nearly killed dh putting it in but I think someone with better knowledge of installing kitchens would find it a lot easier. for the price it's worth it.

We put one in at Easter.
Dh built all the units and a builder put it in for us as we needed electrical work doing and plastering too.
Looks ace :)
Cost £3.5k inc all integrated appliances.
