Best sealant for stripped floorboards

Just about to have our rather orange floorboards sanded in the attic rooms.
I originally wanted them painted but it appears that floor paint doesn't last long before it needs redoing.
So we've decided on some sort of sealant.
Do you have any recommendations for a long lasting, slightly shiny darker floor?
