flooring throughout house, is it best to keep one colour?

Hi,

I've almost finished decorating my house and I just have to choose carpets, tiles or laminate etc. I always had the notion that you should keep it all one colour or similar as possible to make it flow... dahling :-)

(I actually just caught myself waving my hand foppishly as I said that lol!)

But each room would suit a different colour, almost light dark light dark- and you can see straight through because I just put in arches.

Should I go with what looks best individually or choose a weird medium?

Grateful for any suggestions if anyone else had/solved this problem xx

Unless its a separate room with doors then I would keep it the same, much too fussy if its all different.

I think they can be different as long as they work well together. Its not as easy to get right.

Thanks to both of you for your advice! Gonna go for best colour in main rooms and kinda blend inwards, trying to keep it as un - choppy as possible. If I screw up and it looks awful I can always meet guests in the reception room with stiff martinis and make sure they're way too happy to notice my dab - handed decorating. Lol. Thanks again for your help xx
